Hey guys, i live in PA, and i am looking for some help to take the burden off of my folks for a while. Basically, i am looking for a decent company that can provide either a loan or some type of financial aid. Even if i could get myself say, a credit card with a low limit so that i could pay for the things i need (like my meds), and pay it off overtime that would be great. Although i have a job i barely make $200/week. It is not enough to afford all of these doctors visits, gas, phone bill, etc. Plus the stress that comes with having the job and dealing with fibro pain. I know alot of you guys are knowledgeable when it comes to things like this. I think i make just over the threshold for foodstamps, which sucks because that could take some of the burden from my parents. It is becoming challenging for them to keep paying for all of this. I promised mom i would look around and get some information. It is becoming difficult to work with the flares i get, and that is another concern i currently have. I don't know if i have enough of a case to try for disability aid.

I went to http://www.dhs.state.pa.us/foradults/supplementalnutritionassistanceprogram/snapincomelimits/, the income limit for one person (I'm not sure if you live with your parents or not), is $1557, (3 people $2640). If you make just over $200 a week, that is just over $800 so your in good shape there (unless you live with your parents, and then look at their income) but you might be able to qualify to be called a single person household depending on your living situation (for instance if you "rent" a basement apartment.

Please don't do the credit card thing, I know from experience that is a BAD idea. because you will max it out in less than two weeks, and will still be paying on it a year later.

I did a quick Google search, and got so many hits I'll just post the search link, here in Mississippi you might find a total of 3 legitimate hits. I don't know how may of these will work out, but it's a start. I'll pray you find something quickly.

If you need help tracking any of these down, let me know.

The credit thing or payday loans are a terrible option. My cc is still maxed and has been for years

Thank you! I do still live with the folks, i would be pretty screwed if i did not. So i am trying to take the burden off them as much as possible so that they can have a nice retirement. My folks are both up there in age. I may try for disability after i talk to the Rheumatologist on the 2nd visit, and see what he has found based on all that testing i had done.

OK, if you can show your not living off your parents, just living in their home, show "rent" receipts or something for the last 6 months to a year. A lot of private places will overlook the parents when they hear the situation, but the government you have to make them accept that it doesn't count.

I would go ahead and get your disability paperwork hardcopy, and fill in as much as possible. I agree waiting to see if the dr can give you more information (diagnoisis, test results etc...) to put on there, the more the better. But have it ready to get online and transfer the information, and submit it.

Again if you need more help with links and such, let me know.

As had already been mentioned, it's not debt load that you need, which is what a credit card or open ended loan will do for you.  What you need is debt assistance.  If you are still back-paying debt, you may want to look into debt reduction services where there are folks who can help you request a reduction or payment plan on old debt. (http://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html/credit_counseling_pennsylvania.html)

If this is future debt, it's time to look at financial help with all your circumstances considered:

Get your SSDI application together asap... As has been mentioned, don't wait on their time table, start it on yours.  Get the paperwork filled in as much as you are able, without filling in the doctor's portion.  Get your doctor on board with this and if you've already got a specialist on who knows your condition, include them in this as well.  You should get a copy of everything in your medical file and go over it with a file tooth comb.  What you're looking for is any statement that is unanswered that might lead to a better life.  Also look for any dissenting ideas and make sure the doctors that placed this information in there, later conclude their idea so that it doesn't look like they're still holding out hope that you'll suddenly get better.
