Wife bought me an X5C remote control video enabled quad drone. I've wanted something like this since before they were invented.

Here are two pics I took with it. I'm being really careful with it so I don't break it. I'll post pics taken at higher altitude and videos too once I get better with it.
There is almost always a breeze here. This thing is light and easily blown around and hard to control in the wind. Plus flying it at the house, there are a lot of obstacles like trees houses, fences I don't want to fly it into stuff or lose behind a fence.

Yesterday I watched a "Fails" compilation of video quad copters. Oh.... Some of theme were several thousand dollar drones, some were cheap ones, but the video showed most of them biting the dust in horrible ways. I don't want to be one of "Those Guys" that killed my drone by making a stupid mistake, or lack of experience.

First pic is me on sidewalk in front of house, and second pic is neighbors house across the street. Yard is half dead from saving water because of the drought.

That looks like what i need to look at a old mine out here in the desert.

The mine is about 400 feet up on one wall of a  canyon and you would need mountain climbing equipment to get to it due to a landslide.

Good for you.

The only advice I have is to be careful where you fly the copter-some folks feel like they are being spied upon and get the shotguns out! :sniper:

Be careful and enjoy your new hobby! :blue thumbs up:

I too have wanted one of these gadgets. No particular reason other than I think that they are cool. Way to go on the 25 years, that is very uncommon these days.

Practice time. I was trying to keep one object in the vid frame (me) as I flew around with it. I've been trying to keep in in one spot, or close to it, but it's hard as heck with even a light breeze. So for today, I just improvised and went with wherever it ended up. This thing is so damn much fun. I just wish it had more flight time per charge. I don't get exited about much. This thing though.... :emocrazy:

Flight time = around 7 min. Using the camera takes away from flight time. Picutres = not much, video = a lot.
Charge time = around 70 min. Have to wait for the battery to cool after using it = 5-10 min.
