One of my lifelong hobbies is listening to, and collecting music. This has become exponentially easier and cheaper with streaming music. I use Spotify, IHeartRadio and Youtube lately. I won't mention how I "acquired" or not, a large portion of my music in the past. Yes I spent a lot of money on my music collection, and may or may not have used Napster and it's competitors as well. I always believed if it is legal to record a song off the radio, what is the difference of getting a recording of that very same song elsewhere or by other means. I couldn't afford to buy the music, so the artist(s) and industry did not lose any material objects or income. Anyway... That is a story of the past and is longer than 7 years ago (statute of limitations). Now, online streaming accomplishes the same thing and is legal.

I've started or been a part of threads on other sites that had music appreciation threads appropriate to the forum subject. Usually with a little self discipline the thread(s) stayed on course.

I would like to start a thread here for music that helps you get through the day. I would appreciate it if you linked no more than three links a day. This will keep the thread manageable, and you won't use up all your favorite songs the first day. This will give you more reasons to return to the thread and see others contributions as well. Links to music playlists are acceptable, but once again, no more than three playlists per day as well.

Feel free to post what the song means to you and how it helps you get through the day. How you relate to it and are inspired by it, or how it has helped you through a rough patch. You are NOT obligated to explain anything if you don't want to as well. This topic can be deeply personal and you may not want to share the details. That is fine.

I do this on my FB page. I link three songs (usually) a day. My musical tastes are all across the spectrum with the exception of hate music. Angry music is ok. hateful music is not. This is a self imposed rule, and I will not try to enforce it on others. The thread is for what helps YOU get through the day. Personally, my music I will link will be all over the charts, decades, genres, and even centuries.

Some music videos have "graphic content". Admin may not like it and I hope they speak up if anything crosses the line. Personally if it is "artistic expression" I'm fine for it. Music vids that are nothing more than glossed over porn on the other hand... take it elsewhere please. Also please put a NSFW tag if it is questionable. We are all adults here, but sometimes, some places may not be the best place for some music videos. This is also a Christian based website. It hasn't been pushed as much lately, but I still want to respect that aspect of the site.

I am NOT an admin and my suggestions for rules hold no water so to speak. It is simply a respectful request for the spirit of the thread. If admin has a problem with any part of what I am asking for or suggest allowing please speak up. I don't want to offend this site or any of it's members.

My first three links are playlists I listen to (one per night as per my mood) to help me fall asleep. I use a WiFi connected tablet computer by my bed and set the timer for 45 min usually (it is an option you may have to look for in the IHeartRadio Android app. I couldn't find it on the browser presentation). You can also use your cell phone, but use a WiFi connection if you can. The music will eat up your data plan otherwise. I almost never hear the end of the playlist because I fall asleep before the timer is up. I have difficulty staying asleep with music on is why I use the sleep timer.

I have a VERY strong tendency to be very negative and resentful for some life events I've experienced. When I'm trying to come up with something to dream about to drift off to sleep, this music helps put some distance between me and my past. It helps me keep "life" in perspective. Just because I've had carp [sic] happen in the past doesn't mean I can't try to make tomorrow better than today. It reminds me that I am responsible for my own happiness.

There has been a running joke since Yanni became popular in his genre that he could put anybody to sleep. Well He does it for me almost every time without fail. lol :clapping: Generally I don't listen to him unless I am TRYING to fall asleep. :sleep1:

Just a few good songs that cheer me up. Most of the songs I will post here are songs that cheer me up. I don't want to be a downer around here.

I don't think anyone would like what I would post. I really like old country music from the 40's to the 70's, and some 80's. I also like some rock from the 60's and 70's, even disco. There's really no rock now and very little country I like past the early 80's except some of the real country guys like Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, and the like.

My likes are really varied, as the three below will show.

.    I'm not 😊 afraid to say that I am into: "Bluegrass"&"Blues".  Bluegrass is true 😊 musical instruments... Nothing much electric.... Roots of the best country, which evolved into rock roll. Nothing mentioned about rap, or beep bop..as such.. It's just not relaxing.... I got to know a black cabbie a while back and he played me one of his CD's , couldn't believe my ears.... No wonder these kids are so messed up today...it's just the start of another revolution..a tad more aggressive than the sixties... By far...if one can understand the words..Gods love ❤ and mercy guide this country.

.   How about the old man 👴 Barney Sanders' kickin Ms Clinton's arrogant, prevaricating butt.... Mr. Trumps still trumpiting and getting votes for it 😊 people are looking for honestly....never mind these political science majors and law school prevaricators'...should be an interesting election....

Rap is not relaxing and neither is it feel good music at all!
Back when eric was doing the rap thing was a very painful time for me. : :( : :lmao:

"My hands are small, but they are not yours. They are my own..."

I can't do nearly what I used to, but what I do, I try to do that which is right. I don't live up to this nearly as often as I wish I could, but this song inspires me to try harder.

These are songs that make me reflect on my life and have hope for the future.  Plus, the singing on both are excellent in relaying the story and feeling of the song. Both need to be watched.
