I had an opportunity to undergo cold laser therapy with class IV pulsed laser machine. The kind of machine is very important and that is why a mentioning it. It removed the trigger point's on my neck within a few minutes. As a comparison, a myofascial physical therapist takes several sessions and causes soreness and sometimes more trigger point's.

However, it is not a machine that will cure because the trigger point almost always return. For me, the reduction in trigger point is possible only with the combination of proper exercise and the cold laser therapy.

Unfortunately, in India, the cost is exorbitant and this is offered by people who are not really physical therapist so I could not continue beyond the few days.

Motivated by it, I did purchase a consumer version http://www.lasertouchone.com/but despite the excellent reviews on Amazon, it did not help a much. I have had more success with the tens unit.

The main problem perhaps is that the wave length is very critical and class IV laser machines are completely different from the class II in class III laser machines.

Here is one link for a person who is offering this in Floridahttp://lasermedicaflorida.com/about/lasers/

If anyone tries this out please share your experience.

A few of our members have gone through laser therapy for pain (aka, cold laser therapy) but so far I haven't heard of a positive result... here's typical responses from some of those who have gone through it:

I haven't taken the plunge though the lack of insurance coverage and the high cost here have made it an impossibility so far.  I'm glad you found some relief using that therapy.  I imagine it would be very costly to replicate what was done in therapy as the equipment is likely inordinately expensive as most medical devices are.  Que cera cera.  :budy:

I looked into it.   old-man/cane

I did try it for several years but couldn't say it ever got rid of a trigger point.  I think the practitioner was part of the problem.  I would suggest focusing on a few places but she seemed to think it was better to scan a region instead.  I finally decided accupuncture was more effective.

It's to bad because the laser was pretty easy to tolerate.

You trying to say that those little old needles hurt like hell?   :yikes:

I consider the pain to be an indicator that they are doing something.  :emocrazy:

"Trigger point" are area that trigger pain in other locations.  They are hard to deal with but if you can start to get them released I believe you will do better.  It's just hard to measure if the self induced pain is worth the possibility you will be better in the future.  In the short term, I do worse.

All I know is in the long run I have done allot better.   ;)  But it's still hard at times.  Just not as much.
