Hi Pamela!

I was at my doctor's office today and one suggestion he made was to try to find a Psychologist in Manitoba that maybe able to help people with Fibromyalgia. I tried to Google it and was unable to find anything. Would you happen to know of someone?

Thanks!

Hi BRPFfan

I do not know of anyone personally. However, I would suggest that your search would encompass Psychologists who specialize in patients with chronic illness...not just FM.

Actually, I am surprised that your doctor is not actively involved in the referral process for you. It would be much easier for him to locate the appropriate professional than you because he would have immediate access to the Medical Network.

I am happy to put out some questions to my colleagues in this area and they may be able to direct you more specifically.

Where are you located in Manitoba? Are you close to Winnipeg?

Best Regards

Thanks for the fast responce Pamela!

Morden an hour South, South West of Winnipeg so going to "The City" as we call it, is no big deal.
I was also surprised that my Doc did not give me a name or anything either, but oh well??

Thanks Again Pamela!

When a doctor does this, I want to have a fit.   I really want to ask do I get a discount for finding my own doctor for further consultation.

Hopefully, he said "Good Luck!"  Surely!

Makes me think of a fireman coming to your burning house, and telling you that you need to go get some water.

I know it has to be frustrating.....

Do you know if there is a local fibro support group in your area?  That might be a starting place......

Just an idea.

The reason he did that was because I had told him about this forum and he thought that maybe someone would know of a Psychologist that specializes in treating Firbomyalgia patents. Plus that way he did not say I needed to see a "shrink" and that it was all in my head. He is an AWESOME Doctor and will continue defend him. I guess I was not very clear in my first post on this thread and for that I apologize!!!

I have a few contacts in the local phycologist community here in Winnipeg.  It's a good idea that I had not thought of before.  I will get on the horn when I get home (currently out at the farm) and see what I can stir up.

That's great news Paul...that you have contacts in Winnipeg.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to find anyone...so thank you so much for contributing!

All one big happy family!1  Grin

I see....   You have a good doctor....

I guess I'm a little twisted myself from some of the whacko's I have ran into.

It is a blessing when anyone finds a good doctor.   I have told mine several times, she will have to continue to see me, even when either one of us gets in the nursing home.

I've even suggested marriage several times.   Fortunately, she has a remarkable sense of humor.

To have or to find a good Doctor is very important, but to find one with a sence of humor is just awesome Bob. I know my Doctor also has a real good sence of humor as well, and I sure injoy that. There's nothing like a good old laugh!!!!
